Scope: Homepage
Role: Art Direction, Design
Overview
Nine Line is a capital advisory firm built by operators with real industry experience, helping founder-led businesses and family enterprises restructure debt, raise capital, and execute strategic transitions. This homepage design needed to earn trust at a glance, delivering institutional-grade credibility while keeping the operator-led edge that sets the firm apart from typical finance brands.
The Challenge
The only creative direction provided was a single marketing flyer. There were no brand guidelines, no mood board, no existing site to reference. Financial and capital advisory branding depends heavily on perceived credibility, and a tone that reads as too corporate, too soft, or too generic can undercut trust before a visitor reads a single word of copy.
The real challenge went beyond homepage design. It meant reverse-engineering a full brand system, tone, hierarchy, color logic, and visual language, from one static reference, then carrying that system across a full-scroll site with a dozen distinct sections.
The Approach
The flyer set the visual direction for the entire site. Its dark, high-contrast palette and restrained typography became the foundation for the brand identity, with gold accents used sparingly for CTAs and section labels to keep the design disciplined rather than decorative. This restraint echoed the brand's own positioning: capital provides options, execution determines outcomes.
Every section, from Challenge to What We Do to How We Work to Who We Serve to Team to the closing CTA, followed one consistent system: dark backgrounds for authority, full-bleed cityscape photography for scale, and a unified type hierarchy that let the page read as one voice.
The team section broke to a lighter background deliberately, a pacing shift that humanized the firm after several dense sections, before returning to the darker palette for the closing CTA.
The Result
The client approved the design direction quickly, with minimal revisions, confirming that a single flyer, read carefully, held enough signal to build a full brand identity the client immediately recognized as their own.
